Who are we
The Young Social Democrats (YSD) are the youth wing of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). We exist to provide a forum for under 30s members of the SDP to engage and socialise, discuss internal matters, and collaborate on advancing the SDP as a political force in the UK.
We run our own media channels, sit on important coordinating committees to shape party strategy, lobby for policy changes within the SDP, and coordinate our members to support party campaigning at local and national elections. We are here to ensure young people are at the heart of the SDP’s resurgence as a political force.
Our Purpose
Young people are at the heart of the SDP's vision for Britain. The YSD's role is to ensure that young people are central to the party’s strategy as we become a growing political force in Britain.
The SDP is a pro-youth party. It is firmly against the neoliberal, anti-British politics the UK has suffered for decades, that has stolen the future from young British people. Housing is too expensive, wages are stagnant, crime is rising, pride in our country is shamed, and we face an environmental crisis.
We will ensure that young people are central to winning power and delivering the SDP vision of a better Britain. A vision of thriving, safe communities, where life is made easier, the cost of living is brought down, our country is secure, the economy is sustainably growing, and our environment is defended.
If we want an SDP government to deliver this vision, young people currently in the party and those considering joining, need to help deliver the SDP to the government first.
